Attend the Community Forum Scheduled for April 30th

The Board of Education has submitted a proposal to the community for a capital bond to improve the infrastructure in all of our schools.  Please click here for detailed  information related to the bond.

The bond includes installing a single turf field at the high school stadium.   A turf field will help our students in many ways:  minimize lost practice time and rescheduling of games due to weather conditions; improve field conditions for all sports; provide an enhanced / appropriate field surface for competitive field hockey; eliminate costs and travel time to local turf fields to practice when weather conditions prevent play on the grass fields, eliminate a competitive disadvantage our teams encounter when we compete in advanced playoff rounds and County/Long Island/State championships that are almost always played on turf fields; provide an alternate venue for gym classes when weather conditions require indoor participation; and reduce “wear and tear” on our three new grass fields at the high school.

The Booster Club strongly supports the bond and the installation of the turf field but recognizes and respects that each member/family of the Harborfields community needs to make its own determination on how to vote on the bond.

We strongly encourage you to review the district’s publications related to the bond and attend the community forums that are scheduled for

  • April 30th 7:45 p.m. at Oldfield Middle School.
  • June 19th at 7:45 p.m. at Oldfield Middle School.

The vote on the bond is anticipated to take place in November 2019 and if it passed, construction will begin on July 1, 2021.
