BOOSTER CAMP DESCRIPTIONS

Boys Basketball Camp (Grades 2-9)
This camp provides a structured basketball learning experience to boys entering grades 2 – 9.  The camp is great for basketball enthusiasts and novices alike. Teams are made according to age and ability.  The camp focuses on improving campers’ basketball skills emphasizing offense, defense, shooting and game fundamentals.  Daily competitions and team play encourage teamwork, sportsmanship and personal development. HF Coaches and current and former players who have played at the collegiate level will provide instruction.  Campers should bring plenty of water and basketball gear.  The camp will provide basketballs.

Advanced Boys Basketball Camp (Grades 8-12)

The advanced basketball camp is for the serious basketball player. This camp are for boys that intend to tryout for the Junior Varsity or Varsity boys' team for the 2016-2017 season. This camp is geared to those players who want to bring their game to the next level. This 2-hour session, 1 pm till 3 pm, is a look into what makes the boys program so successful. Some of the drills used will be the same as the ones used during the varsity season. The camp is staffed by some of the players that went through the program. Campers should bring plenty of water and basketball gear. The camp will provide basketballs.

Girls Basketball Camp (Grades 1-6)
Come join us for four days full of basketball skills, contests, games, and fun activities. Our camp is designed for beginners and intermediate players (no experience necessary).  Of course, we will teach the skills of the game and have scrimmages.  However, our main goal is to make sure each camper has fun, learns how to work with others as a team and develops a love for the game.  Campers will be divided by grade and there will be many contests and “special” days especially for the campers such as- Crazy Hat Day, Clash Day, Water Balloon Day, Talent Day, Skills Contests to name a few.  The staff is comprised of the award winning Long Island Champion Lady Tornadoes players and coaches. All campers should bring a water bottle containing PLAIN WATER. Please write your camper's name on the container.  At times we utilize the outdoor courts so SUN BLOCK is a MUST.

Advanced Girls Basketball Camp (Grades 7-12)
The Lady Tornadoes will once again run their advanced basketball camp for the serious basketball player.  This camp is geared to those players who want to bring their game to the next level.   The camp is open to all students entering grades 7 through 12.  This 2-hour session, 1 pm till 3 pm, is a look into what makes the Lady Tornadoes so successful.  The same offensive and defensive drills which led to this year’s League title, the Class A title, the Small School title, the Section 11 title will be utilized.  The camp is staffed with members of the Lady Tornadoes, their coaching staff and college players. The players, who have been recognized with individual awards as well as team awards, will put the campers through the drills and help demonstrate what has led them to numerous championships. Campers should bring plenty of water and basketball gear.  The camp will provide basketballs.

Volleyball Camp (Grades 3-9)
Come join us for four Fun Filled days at Volleyball Camp. Designed for beginning and intermediate players (no experience necessary), this camp will cover both individual volleyball skills and game strategy. Session time includes both instruction and controlled scrimmages. Campers will be divided by grade and will participate in a wide range of fun activities (skill contests, team relay races, water balloon fun, camper of the day, and a lot more) in addition to receiving top-notch skills instruction with very experienced coaches. Kneepads are optional and not really needed except for the intermediate players (7th-9thgrade) who will begin to work on diving for the ball. All campers should bring a water bottle containing PLAIN WATER. Please write your camper's name on the container.

Advanced Volleyball Camp (Grades 8-12)
Our advanced volleyball camp offers a high level of training and increased individual playing time for athletes entering grades 8-12. It stresses position play, advanced team techniques and match play. You will experience high level coaching, low instructor/camper ratio, skill development, personal evaluation, and a whole lot more. Refining technique and exposure to the tactical aspects of the game is the key to this intense volleyball environment. This session is ideal for the experienced volleyball player striving to be the best. Come enhance your Volleyball skills and prepare for the Fall Season! This camp is geared toward players trying out for JV/Varsity level teams or played for the middle school team.

Flag Football (Grades 3-8) - ***NEW SUMMER 2017***

Are you ready for some football?!? Come join us this summer for some flag football. This is a non-contact camp.  Rocco Colucci the Harborfields head varsity football coach and current coaches and players will be on hand to help develop football skills and technique.  This camp will break down all positions such as Wide receivers, Quarterbacks, Running Backs, Defensive Back as well as Offensive and Defensive lineman. Campers will receive individual and group instruction. First half of the day will work on skills through drills enhancing your football technique. In additions to the drills, there will be a Punt, Pass and Kick competition as well as a combine competition (Push-up, 40yd Dash, Vertical Jump, Shuttle Run). Prizes and awards will be given daily to campers who earn them. Second half of the day will be groups of grade level flag football games. The flag football games will have playoffs and Super bowl. Each team will have a varsity coach or player to help them in their games. Players should bring cleats and a water bottle with their names on it.

Baseball Camp (Grades 2-6)
Batter up! Come join us for the highlight of the summer, Baseball Camp! With age groups ranging from beginner to intermediate, there’s something in this camp for everyone. This camp will include personal instruction on individual, as well as team skills, that are required to play the game of baseball. Each day will focus on a specific skill for the kids to practice and enhance. Each day includes time to work on skills and time to showcase those skills in a modified scrimmage. In addition to receiving first-rate instruction from experienced coaches, campers will be playing various games, taking part in contests and competitions such as throwing contests and relay races, as well as receiving prizes such as camper of the day! Each camper should bring any baseball equipment they wish to use including: bat, glove, hat, sneakers/cleats, and a water bottle. Sunscreen is also recommended to protect against the summer sun. Please be sure to PRINT your camper’s name on ALL belongings. We hope you come out and have some fun in the sun with us!

Baseball Advanced Camp (Grades 7-12)

For the first year, we will run an advanced baseball camp for the serious baseball player. This camp is designed to help growing baseball players take the next step in their development on the newly renovated varsity baseball field. This camp is open for all students entering grades 7-12. This camp will give players an opportunity to experience and work through the same drills that are used at the varsity level. Each day will consist of both offensive and defensive drills and competitions to enhance the skills of each individual player. The week’s activities will help to improve not only player skill but increase their knowledge of the game as well. All players in the advanced camp should bring turfs or cleats in addition to sneakers (in case of inclement weather) to all sessions and all baseball equipment they plan to use (hat, glove, bat, helmet, catcher’s gear). Bring plenty of water to stay hydrated.

Girls Field Hockey Camp (Grades 2-9)
This fun-filled camp is designed for both beginners, intermediate, and advanced players. Throughout the days of camp individual skills such as dribbling, shooting, 1v1 skills, and field hockey tricks will be covered as well as team development and game strategies. Session time includes both instruction and controlled scrimmages. Campers will be divided by grade and/or skill level and will participate in fun-filled skill contests, team relays, water balloon fun and other competitive activities all designed to develop a love for the game of field hockey. Camp concludes with an Olympics-style event.  Campers will receive excellent instruction from very experienced coaches, including some with Division I field hockey coaching experience.  All campers should bring a mouth guard, shin guards, water bottle, snack, and a field hockey stick.  A limited number of field hockey sticks can be borrowed for the duration of camp.

Sports Sampler Camp (Grades K-5)
New for 2017  - Offering 2 Sessions this Summer

This camp introduces kids to a variety of traditional sports. Each day the participants will receive valuable instruction in up to three new sports from experienced players. Soccer, basketball, lacrosse, baseball (t-ball)/softball, bowling, volleyball, hockey, nerf football are amongst some of the favorites of the group. Please have the campers bring a water bottle with their name on it!

Track & Field Camp – Boys & Girls (Grades 3-8)
The Girls Varsity Coach and members of the Girls Varsity Track Team will teach campers the basics of Track & Field. Learn how to use starting blocks, run various events, long jump, shot put and more. Play games and prepare for the final day Track meet. Everyone will receive a medal and have a final day party. All you need to bring is plenty of water and a desire to learn a fun and exciting sport.

(For beginner and intermediate players)

Campers will be taught fundamental skills for the game of soccer in a fun-filled learning experience. For the youngest athletes, counselors will demonstrate dribbling and driving techniques in classic games as tag, sharks and minnows, and soccer knockout. They will also learn some team skills as they play in scrimmages at the end of each day. On the intermediate level, athletes will begin to be taught more skills necessary to succeed at the next level. Through juggling, dribbling, shooting drills, campers will learn more techniques as they advance in age and skill level. Intermediate learners will have small sided (group) scrimmages eventually leading to larger games. Athletes are asked to bring water, cleats (if you have them), shin guards, and a soccer ball (please note we do have a few balls available, but encourage each camper to bring their own). Please bring sneakers/shoes on rainy days as we often move indoors.

Boys Lacrosse Camp (Grades 1-6)
Come join us for four fun filled days at Lacrosse Camp. The camp is for all boys in grades 3-6, as of September 2014.  No experience is necessary and all are welcome! The purpose of the camp is to develop fundamental skills, teach the rules, and play competitive games.  Session time includes both instruction and controlled scrimmages. Campers will be able to be in groups with their friends.  Harborfields High School Lacrosse players will instruct the campers. All campers must be fully equipped to play in contact drills (Stick, gloves, arm pads, shoulder pads, helmet, and mouth piece). All campers are responsible to bring a drink (preferably water). Please write your camper's name on the bottle.

Cheerleading Camp (Grades 1-6)
Got spirit? Let’s hear it! Come show us your Tornado pride at cheerleading camp for four fun filled days! This camp is designed for beginning and intermediate cheerleaders who want to develop their cheering, dancing and jumping skills as well as learning proper safety techniques and most importantly teamwork in an exciting and creative atmosphere. Over the course of the first three days campers will learn sideline cheers, floor cheers and a spirit dance routine. These routines will be performed for parents, families and friends on our final day of camp! Campers will benefit from the expertise of the staff including many current Harborfields Varsity cheerleaders!
Campers should bring a water bottle containing plain water! Be sure to write your camper’s name on the container. Campers should also wear comfortable clothes and sneakers (NO FLIP FLOPS OR OPEN TOED SHOES). All hair should be tied back and no jewelry should be worn.

Boys and Girls Tennis Camp (Grades 5-10)
(recently updated to combine boys and girls)
Bob Davis the boys and girls Varsity coach will direct the camp. This is a camp is designed for the intermediate player (middle school to junior varsity level of play). The basics of ground strokes, serve, and volleying will be covered as well as specific tennis conditioning and strategy. Drills and competitions will be incorporated throughout the week. In addition, players will compete against one another. Campers should bring their own tennis racket, water bottle, hat and/or sunscreen. The campers will be divided by age and ability to ensure a good time is had by all. Campers should bring a racquet, drink, snack and a smile.

Advanced Girls Soccer Camp (Grades 7-12)
The advanced girls soccer camp, run by the varsity, JV, and OMS coaching staff is designed for the intermediate and advanced player (Grades 7-12) who are playing or wish to play high school soccer.  Offered just prior to the start of the high school tryout and preseason week, this camp provides an excellent tune-up in preparation for the fall club and high school seasons.  The week will consist of activities and games taken from actual training sessions used by the varsity and JV coaches that will help to improve both technical (skills) and tactical (game knowledge) abilities. All players in the advanced camp should bring cleats and indoor shoes (in case of inclement weather) to all sessions and shin guards are mandatory. Bring plenty of water.

Advanced Boys Soccer Camp (Grades 8-12)
The boys' varsity coaching staff will be conducting a brief pre-season workout, Monday-Thursday, to help prepare junior high and high school athletes for their respective seasons. Through short, intense drills, athletes will be asked to participate in the same types of activities they will see at the highest levels. Small sided games, ball skills, and other techniques will be taught to help improve our athlete's skills, elevating their play and making them well-rounded soccer players.
